Are you the only one putting in all the effort in your relationship to make it work? That can feel like a heavy load to carry and could be very discouraging. Being in a relationship should be fun. You don’t have to continue this way.

Let’s get into what you can do to make your relationship what it’s actually designed to be. But before that, let’s touch on some of the things that could be responsible for your partner acting this way. Does he see you as someone who wants to arm twist him to do things he doesn’t want to do? This actually leads to a power struggle between the both of you and can make your partner withdraw – which could lead to an imbalance in your relationship.

Your partner might have some unresolved past issues that you may not know about.

This could be something that took place in a past relationship (that has been carried over into this current one). He also could be harboring anger over something that happened to him as a child or have bottled resentment against a close family member -that has caused a disconnect in every other area of his relationships with others including you.

It’s always a good rule of thumb to always discuss your past and childhood experiences when getting to know each other at the beginning of your relationship. It helps a long way in managing your expectations as things progress.

After all said and done and you know you are not the problem, this might be the most practical step to take when in a one sided dating relationship.

Though it may be a hard thing to do because there’s love in the mix, this might actually be a good time to walk away to preserve your mental health- if the hassles of the relationship is beginning to take its toll on you.
