Self care ideas…
No, self care is not selfish and shabbiness is not attractive and neither is it a virtue. Many people end up burning out from not taking a break just because they feel they should put the needs of others first. Yes. You should take care of others but you shouldn’t put your self in the back burner to suffer.
At all. You shouldn’t be a part of that statistic.
There should always be a balance in work and life to ensure you create and live your best life. You can certainly enjoy both worlds but you cannot give your best to others if you deprive or starve yourself of the care you need, to put in your best in all that you do. It’s a lose-lose situation.
Self care takes on different forms; physical self care, emotional self care, psychological self care, spiritual and professional self care. All these areas need to be taken care of to be wholesome in mind, spirit and soul.

When things are demanding of your time and space, take time off to shelve some things off. Take a break to cool off. Nothing wrong with that.
3. Have Some Self Pamper
Go to the spa and give yourself some self pampering. Do some manicure and pedicure. Rock a new hairstyle. Change your make up and all that good stuff. Change your wardrobe. Get some nice looking clothes to step up your fashion game. Think about it, if you don’t do these things no one else would do it for you.
4. Have Some Designated “Me Time”
This time could be anytime of the day of your choice. You could choose to see a movie, read a book, have a therapeutic soak in the bath while listening to your favorite soul music, window shop, exercise, swim, go to the beach or even take a nap or sleep. 6. Ditch Self Criticism
Now this one…when you look into the mirror what do you see? What do you say to the person you see? Most times we strive to speak peace, grace and all the nice things to others but when it comes to ourselves, we are our own worst critic.
Say nice things to and about yourself to yourself.
That person in the mirror isn’t ugly, that person in the mirror doesn’t have a crooked nose and even if it looks that way, you are unique! There’s no two versions of you. You are you! Celebrate the you in you!
Don’t wait for anyone to compliment you, compliment yourself. When others compliment you, let it be a confirmation of what you already know and not an affirmation you most desperately seek. Think the best of you to bring out the best in you. Do it for you.
7. Make Friends
Self imposed isolation is a thief of joy and lack of confidence could make you withdrawn or classify yourself as an introvert even if you aren’t one.
Try to meet people and make new friends – good ones. Having good friends and people in your life has great benefits. It does more to you and for you than you know.
Having amazing friends make your life easier and fills you with confidence knowing you are not alone.

8. Have A Time of Reflection
To be a better you.
What are the things that you feel get in the way to becoming a better you? Take stock and reflect on what takes a toll on your emotional health and jettison what doesn’t help that cause.
Inner reflection helps you get rid of toxic thinking. Replace those thoughts with positivity and rid your mind of any pessimism or gloom. Having a time of reflection is something you need to do from time to time to avoid being fatigued and overwhelmed.
9. Take Charge of Your Emotions
Make it a point of duty to take charge of your emotions.
Emotions could be very tricky especially when a lot of it is going on at the same time. Take control of your emotions and how you react to things. An emotional roller coaster does ill to the health of the body and mind which then reflects on what’s going on the outside overtime.
Sieve your thoughts to always think happy thoughts. Make up your mind to be happy. Choose happy.
