Tough Times?
Life throws a lot in our way that we try hard to navigate and process solutions or devise ways to get out of. The weight of what we are going through might seem much more than we can possibly bear and we don’t know where to turn or what direction to go to get the help we desperately need.
But when life gets tough, you get tougher. What does that look like? What does that even mean?
When Life Gets Tough, You:
1. Stay focused. Avoid distractions because they would come in different ways. Things that are so distracting that if you don’t pay close attention enough will lead you to fail- The exact opposite of what you are trying to achieve.
2. Eschew discouragement. Encourage your self even when no one else does. Pat your self on the back. Tell yourself you are trying your best and you are not doing badly at all.

3. Keep hope alive. Pessimism is the highway to depression. Once you have hope, there is life and vice versa. No matter how down you feel, make sure you do not lose hope. You can stay 40 days without food, 4 days without water, 4 minutes without air but only 4 seconds without hope.

4. Get wisdom and good counsel. Get good counsel from good sources. Even if those counsel are good, you still need to sieve them to choose the one that suits your particular situation.
5. Seek help. Don’t drown in your weakness while pretending you are a macho you know deep down you are not. We are made for community. No one is an island. Reach out to your network or people outside of it that you know can help you with what you are going through. This is not a time to entertain shame.
6. Push and follow through on your goals despite the challenges and set backs.

7. Rest. This may sound counterintuitive but you need to rest. Sleep at the right time.
8. Eat well. Food is one of the joys of life though everything has to be done in moderation.
9. Take care of your thoughts. Journaling is a great way to decompress and disperse your thoughts. This is one great way for me to let go of a lot of things weighing on my mind and a good way to take care of my thought process. It is a good thing to try out if you do not do so already.

10. Pray. What can you do without this? Nothing. Many people pray without knowing that what they just did was to pray. Prayer is not a mirage or something out of this world as many think. Prayer is talking and asking. Some may call it wishes, some may call it thoughts, some may even call it praying to the universe (whatever that means). When you are facing a tough time, pray to the ultimate supreme being. The Almighty, the creator of the heavens and the earth- The one who made and knows you and all that you are going through.
As someone said, remember tough times don’t last but tough people do.
Have a great week ahead!
